Compared to the mechanical process, advanced recycling allows the recovery of all types of PET waste, i.e. not only water bottles, but also those from the world of detergents, textiles, cosmetics, etc. After collection, this material is treated at specialised collection centres. Here, through shredding and washing processes, it is prepared for depolymerisation. The polymer chain of the plastic product is in fact chemically broken down and returned to the starting monomers. These are polymerised again, resulting in new PET that can be used to produce products with chemical and physical characteristics identical to those of the virgin material.
Advanced Recycling
Advanced recycling of plastics takes place through the depolymerisation of plastic waste, from which new material with identical characteristics to the virgin material can be obtained. An advanced process that can be repeated several times without affecting the quality of the finished product and that can also be obtained from waste that is usually very difficult to recycle. The result is a type of PET EU and FDA certified for food contact, and also validated by the European Pharmacopoeia.
