Bormioli Pharma achieves the “Gold Medal” in EcoVadis ESG scorecard
Bormioli Pharma has been awarded a “Gold Medal” in the EcoVadis scorecard that monitors corporate developments in ESG (Environment, Social & Governance) topics.
This recognition is given to all those companies joining the top 5% of all EcoVadis evaluated businesses, based on several parameters related to the following categories: Environment, Workplace Practices & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Purchases.
Bormioli Pharma achieved a total scorecard of 76/100, with enhanced performances in Environment (90/100), Workplace Practices & Human Rights (80/100) and Ethics (70/100).
“This achievement is a considerable recognition of the efforts we are implementing to drive responsible growth, highlighting our role as a partner of the pharmaceutical industry in developing increasingly widespread, effective and sustainable medical practices”, commented Andrea Lodetti, CEO of Bormioli Pharma. “For Bormioli Pharma, sustainability goes far beyond industrial processes and corporate procedures, also fully embracing our final output, our products. As of today, almost half of our sales are of products manufactured with responsible materials, thanks to the development of one of the widest sustainable packaging offerings available in the pharma industry, EcoPositive.”
In terms of sustainability targets, Bormioli Pharma is committed to a 30% reduction in Carbon Intensity and a 41% reduction of Water Withdrawal Intensity by 2030 (compared to the 2021 baseline), as well as in reaching a 50% share of sustainable materials in sold products by 2025, an objective which the company is well on track to achieve, with a 47% in the first half of 2024.
The company is also making big improvements in Governance, with the implementation of robust processes contained in the corporate ESG Policy. There is also a will to build a more responsible supply chain, aiming to assess 90% of suppliers on the international EcoVadis platform by 2026.
EcoVadis provides a holistic sustainability company ratings service, covering a broad range of non-financial management systems including Environmental, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement impacts. Each company is rated on the material issues in relation to their company's size, location and industry.
